Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to a report from Football Insider, Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Declan Rice, and he wants to sign the player at the end of the season. The English international is also a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.
Rice was heavily linked with a move away from West Ham during the summer transfer window. But his £100 million asking price managed to ward off any potential suitors, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
Liverpool’s need for midfielders is no secret, and Rice could prove to be an excellent acquisition for them. However, it will be interesting to see whether Fenway Sports Group are prepared to bankroll the move. Liverpool will probably have to shell out a club record fee to sign the West Ham midfielder.
Meanwhile, the Reds are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham as well. The talented youngster is likely to cost just as much as Rice next summer. With Jordan Henderson and James Milner in the twilight stages of their career, Liverpool will have to bring in a quality midfielder. And Rice certainly fits the profile.
Furthermore, Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara have been injury prone since moving to the Premier League. And the West Ham midfielder’s availability will be a huge positive for Liverpool.
Rice has improved substantially since leaving Chelsea as a youth player. He has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and could compete with Fabinho for the starting berth at Anfield.
The Brazilian midfielder has not been at his best for a while now. And bringing in someone like Rice will help him improve because of the added competition for places. Rice is well-settled in the Premier League and could make an immediate impact at Anfield next season. Given his quality, potential and availability, signing Rice is a no-brainer for any top club.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with the player as well. And it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. Chelsea and Manchester United will likely provide stiff competition to Liverpool next summer.
