Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered an escape route by David Beckham’s Inter Miami to put an end to his misery at Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s current status has made him vulnerable at Manchester United. And according to Daily Star, MLS upstarts Inter Miami are planning to pursue a deal for the 37-year-old. The Portuguese international has not been productive this season and will be ready to make his way out of the club in January.
The former Real Madrid talisman was very keen to find a new destination in the summer. But a lack of interest from clubs forced Ronaldo to alter his plans, as he reluctantly chose to remain at Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag appeared to be happy with his inclusion after the conclusion of the transfer saga. But the Manchester United manager has not been using Ronaldo on a regular basis in the Premier League. He remained on the bench through the 6-3 humiliation at the hands of Manchester City last week. Ronaldo did not impress against Omonia Nicosia either.
Inter Miami’s staggering £30 million wage proposal could lure Ronaldo to the USA soil. But the MLS upstarts are pushing for a free transfer as they are not ready to spend a single penny as a transfer fee.
Former Manchester United player Phil Neville currently manages Inter Miami, whose co-owner is Red Devils’ legend David Beckham. Beckham will try to use his Manchester United connections to secure a move. But with Ronaldo being a money-spinner even from the bench, it might be difficult to engineer a transfer.
Clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich were linked with a potential move for Ronaldo in the summer. But his huge pay package and his advancing age became a hindrance between him and his possible departure from Manchester United.
Inter Miami star Gonzalo Higuain is hanging up his boots at the end of the current MLS campaign. So there will be a substantial place available for the 37-year-old. But other clubs, like Galatasaray, have also shown interest in Ronaldo.
Ronaldo will unlikely lead the line when Manchester United travel to Everton on Sunday. But he still remains one of the hottest prospects both on and off the field. And if the Red Devils decide to put him up in the market, there might not be a dearth of potential buyers.
