Barcelona are reportedly interested in 19-year-old Girona right-back and former La Masia ace Arnau Martinez.

According to Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez, Barcelona are keeping tabs on 19-year-old defender Arnau Martinez. The Catalan giants have been tracking the progress of the former La Masia ace since last year.

Following the departure of Sergino Dest in the summer transfer window, Barcelona have been left with Hector Bellerin and Sergi Roberto as their only right-back options. It seems that the Catalan giants are keen on adding more depth and quality to the position.

Martinez has been a key player for Girona this season and has a big future ahead of him. The 19-year-old can operate as a right-back as well as a right-winger. He has been impressive going forward in La Liga this season, and Barcelona could certainly use his attacking quality from the right-back position.

The former La Masia ace is highly rated in Spain and has the potential to develop into a top-class player in the future. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona decide to submit an offer for the 19-year-old in the coming months.

Turning down a club like Barcelona is difficult for most players, and the former La Masia ace might be tempted if the Catalan giants come calling. The youngster will want to play at the highest level and fulfil his potential in the coming years. A move to Barcelona would certainly give Martinez a massive platform to showcase his talent.

Martinez has done reasonably well at the back so far this season, but he has been outstanding going forward. He has already chipped in with two goals from five appearances in La Liga. And someone like Xavi Hernandez could help him develop as a player and fulfil his tremendous potential at Barcelona.

Girona will not be keen on selling their prized asset any time soon. But Barcelona have the financial resources to convince them. And if Martinez decides to force the issue, the Blaugrana will have an advantage during negotiations.

The 19-year-old defender has a contract with Girona until the summer of 2025, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a reasonable fee for his services.
