Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal this summer.

According to a report from 90 min, Newcastle United are hoping to bring in 25-year-old Arsenal utility man Ainsley Maitland-Niles as an alternative to the injured Emil Krafth, and they are in talks with the north Londoners.

The Swedish defender recently suffered a serious injury and is set to be sidelined for several months. Eddie Howe needs to bring in a quality alternative, and Maitland-Niles could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, and he has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer. The English utility man needs to go out on loan in order to gain valuable first-team action, and the move to Newcastle United would be ideal for him.

Maitland-Niles can operate as a right-back as well as a right-sided winger, and his versatility will be an asset for Newcastle United this season. It will be interesting to see if the Magpies and Arsenal can agree on the move before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle have had an impressive transfer window so far, and they will be looking to finish with a flourish by bringing in a quality right-back option. Maitland-Niles has shown his quality in the Premier League before, and he could make an immediate impact at St. James’ Park.

The versatile defender was on loan at AS Roma during the second half of last season, and he helped Jose Mourinho’s side win the UEFA Europa Conference League. Previously, the Arsenal utility man impressed on a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion as well.

Maitland-Niles will be looking to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football now. Apparently, the likes of Southampton, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest are keen on securing the services of the 25-year-old as well, and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Newcastle United have an ambitious project brewing, and they are one of the richest clubs in the world following their takeover. The chance to move to St. James’ Park could be a tempting proposition for the Arsenal outcast.

If he can impress during his loan spell at Newcastle, the Magpies might just look to make his move permanent next summer. Furthermore, the transfer would be beneficial for Arsenal as well. A successful loan spell would help the player retain his value, and the Gunners could then look to move him on for a handsome fee.
