Martin Dubravka is reportedly open to joining Manchester United this summer as a loan move edges closer to completion.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Martin Dubravka is ready to quit Newcastle United and sign for Manchester United on an initial loan deal. The Red Devils have already placed a bid for the goalkeeper, including a buy option at the end of the season.

Manchester United are set to experience a hectic few days leading to the transfer deadline. Erik ten Hag remains keen on bringing in new players to improve the quality of his current squad, with plenty of stars linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Their pursuit of Ajax attacker Antony continues to grab headlines as the two clubs are yet to find an agreement. Moreover, the Red Devils are also in the market for a new deputy goalkeeper, who could also double up as a competitor for David de Gea.

The goalkeeping position at Manchester United has come under scrutiny for quite some time, as many have lost confidence in de Gea. The Spaniard’s torrid start to the current season has given ten Hag more reasons to bring in a new competitor.

Unfortunately for ten Hag, Dean Henderson joined Nottingham Forest on loan very early in the window, as the England international could have provided the option the manager desires. Hence, Manchester United recently entered the market to explore a few options.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp rejected a move to Manchester United, as the keeper may have wanted to play regularly in his current setup and get on a plane to Qatar with Germany. Once that move was off, the Red Devils switched their attention toward alternatives.

Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka emerged as their next target, with the Slovakian goalkeeping ace now open to signing for Manchester United. Hence, personal terms should not be a problem as the Red Devils look to agree on a deal with the Magpies.

Manchester United proposed a loan deal until the end of the season with a buy option worth £5 million. The clause is not mandatory, meaning Dubravka could return to St. James’ Park if he fails to impress at Old Trafford.

Discussions between the clubs continue, and there could be a resolution to this chase in the coming days. Newcastle United have already brought in Nick Pope from Burnley in the summer, and the England international is the current No.1 choice under Eddie Howe.
