Chelsea have moved forward with an opening offer worth €15 million to capture 19-year-old midfield sensation Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have made an official offer to sign highly-rated Russia teenage prodigy Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow.
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of Russia’s brightest young prospects, having made a big impression since graduating through the Dynamo ranks. He made his debut for Dynamo Moscow in November 2020 and has since managed 29 goal contributions from just 52 appearances.
Zakharyan has been named the club’s Player of the Year for two seasons in a row and has four caps for Russia’s national team. He typically plays off the left flank but can also play in central midfield. The Russian prodigy netted nine goals and provided nine assists in 34 appearances for Dynamo Moscow last term.
He has also started the 2022/23 campaign brightly, registering a goal and two assists in five games across all competitions. Thus, Zakharyan appears to be a huge talent for the club and country in the future, and his rapid rise has naturally attracted interest from top clubs across Europe. He still has two years remaining on his existing deal with Dynamo Moscow.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea have all been interested in securing his services this summer, with the west London club having now formalised their interest in order to secure his signature as quickly as possible.
Di Marzio has not mentioned the size of the lodged bid or whether it would be enough or not, but Sport-Express reports that the Blues will activate his €15 million release clause after monitoring him throughout the past year. Chelsea’s interest in the Russian prodigy seems genuine, with his agent Pavel Andreev also saying that a deal with Dynamo is extremely close to being finalised.
The Blues have made six signings during the current transfer window and have been the biggest spenders in the English top-flight this summer. Chelsea appear to be shopping at two different marketplaces simultaneously. They have signed several proven and established stars like Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, and Marc Cucurella and are attempting to acquire Wesley Fofana and Pierre Aubameyang before the September 1 deadline.
On the other hand, Chelsea are targeting young and hungry players to add quality to their youth ranks and have already invested heavily in the likes of Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Cesare Casadei, who are considered long-term prospects and future stars. Zakharyan is the next promising talent on their radar, and Di Marzio reports that negotiations with Dynamo are already underway, with Chelsea wanting to wrap up the deal quickly.
