Everton reportedly want Armando Broja and Connor Gallagher in exchange for Chelsea target Anthony Gordon.
According to Fichajes, Everton are set to demand Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher be included in any deal for Anthony Gordon. Chelsea regard the two stars highly, forcing them to look at an alternative route to secure their key attacking target.
Anthony Gordon has become the centre of media talk recently, with Chelsea refusing to ease their pursuit of the 21-year-old Everton attacking sensation. The Blues have had two offers rejected so far by the Toffees and had made a new proposal to appease those in charge of the Merseyside club.
Chelsea’s latest offer was worth a reported £50 million plus £10 million in add-ons, which Everton are yet to respond to. The Toffees are in a bit of a dilemma regarding Gordon as they ponder over selling him or keeping him on board.
Issues are a bit complicated over at Merseyside as they continue to endure financial problems, with the need to raise significant funds to balance their books more than evident. Getting at least £50 million in guaranteed money is a tempting offer, but Everton could play an intelligent game with their latest demands.
As per the report from the Spanish outlet, Everton could ask Chelsea to include Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher in a part-exchange deal for Gordon. If it happens, the Toffees could get their hands on two top talents in English football, although much will depend on the players and their wish to move to Merseyside.
Everton need firepower in their attacking unit, losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to a severe injury and Richarlison to Tottenham. Gordon’s exit will further deplete the quality up front. A player like Broja would undoubtedly offset some of the loss and add quality in the final third.
Broja was heavily linked with West Ham before the season began, but Thomas Tuchel expressed his desire to keep the Albanian forward. In the three games so far, the 20-year-old has been used sporadically as Kai Havertz occupies his position in the team. Moreover, Chelsea’s pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could push Broja further down the pecking order.
Broja will undoubtedly be a regular starter at Everton, and the Merseysiders would consider a permanent move in exchange for Gordon. Meanwhile, Gallagher is enduring a similarly difficult time at Chelsea, as it seems he is currently in the team on borrowed time.
Despite a terrific season with Crystal Palace on loan, Gallagher finds himself below N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic in the Chelsea pecking order. Due to injuries to the duo mentioned above, the England international is finding some game time at Chelsea, which could revert in a few weeks.
Gallagher has previously shown no interest in leaving Chelsea amid West Ham and Everton’s interest. However, if he evaluates his situation at Stamford Bridge carefully, he might think of a coveted spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, as the Chelsea midfielder has to play regularly.
Like Broja, Gallagher could be a regular feature in Frank Lampard’s starting lineup at Everton. Whether they might want to take the step to join Everton remains to be seen, although if Chelsea agree on such an idea, the Toffees could undoubtedly count themselves as winners in the Gordon saga.
