Manchester United defender Eric Bailly wants to join Ligue 1 giants Marseille, although personal terms are yet to be agreed for a loan move.

According to Abdellah Boulma, Eric Bailly is keen on joining Marseille in the coming days, with the Ligue 1 club reaching an agreement with Manchester United over a loan move. Les Phoceens are yet to agree on personal terms with the Ivorian defender, although a move looks imminent.

Eric Bailly’s talent has never been questioned, although his ability to play for Manchester United consistently has always remained the problem. The 28-year-old defender has endured a few injury-ravaged years at the club, and the Premier League giants are now ready to make a firm decision.

Barring his first season at the club, where Bailly made 25 appearances in the Premier League, he has suffered numerous injuries to keep him out for a considerable period each year. Last season, the Ivory Coast international only managed four games in the league, and his Manchester United future looks to be in doubt.

Despite his struggles, some Premier League clubs, including West Ham United, showed interest earlier. However, the admiration from Ligue 1 clubs is driving Bailly to seek an exit from Manchester United.

Marseille have been hot on his trails ever since it became abundantly clear they could not sign William Saliba from Arsenal. The Ligue 1 giants have since opened talks with Manchester United and have sought the details required to make an approach.

Marseille have since made a loan offer, which Manchester United have reportedly accepted. The contract will include a purchase option, allowing the Red Devils to recoup a reasonable fee. While Bailly remains keen on joining the Ligue 1 giants, both parties have yet to agree on personal terms, with the defender not ready to compromise on his salary.

There is a belief that the deal could be ironed out in the coming days, and Marseille could get their desired man. While there are still question marks about Bailly’s fitness to last an entire season, the quality of the Ivorian could elevate the Ligue 1 giants.

Bailly has a contract until 2024, with an option for a further year, which leaves Manchester United in a strong negotiating position. They will be hoping the defender performs well at Marseille, enabling the French outfit to sign him permanently.
