Billy Gilmour and Michy Batshuayi could be included in a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton as Chelsea step up their pursuit of the Englishman.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea could include Billy Gilmour and Michy Batshuayi plus cash in a potential new offer to sign Everton attacker Anthony Gordon. The Blues have had two bids rejected by the Toffees, and they hope the Englishman may help consider a new proposal.
Chelsea remains active in the market, as Thomas Tuchel feels he still needs a few reinforcements to complete his squad. A new midfielder, striker and a central defender are expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline in two weeks.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie de Jong and Wesley Fofana are their preferred targets for those positions. But new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has also been actively recruiting young talents thus far. Chelsea have already signed Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal and Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa, among others, and they are eyeing Anthony Gordon from Everton.
The Toffees have already rejected two offers by Chelsea, with the latest totaling £45 million. Everton are reportedly keen on keeping Gordon beyond the summer transfer window as they cannot afford to lose more talents after allowing Richarlison to join Tottenham.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury-enforced absence places the spotlight on Gordon to lead the Everton attack, a role the youngster relishes. However, the lure of joining a big club could be tempting, with reports suggesting the 21-year-old is keen on moving to Chelsea.
The west Londoners are undoubtedly confident, and despite having two massive bids rejected by Everton, they are ready to push again. Chelsea are reportedly considering offering Billy Gilmour and Michy Batshuayi plus cash to sign Gordon, and they hope this proposal may tempt Everton into considering a sale.
Batshuayi and Gilmour are not in Tuchel’s plans and have spent considerable time away from the club on various loans. However, while the Scottish midfielder is still young, the Belgian attacker has been on Chelsea’s payroll for a long time, and it may be the time for them to move him on.
While Everton were previously interested in both those fringe stars, it is unknown whether they are keen now, especially in a part-exchange deal where they might lose Gordon. Although the Toffees are in a dire position financially, recording losses of around £370 million in the last three years, a big offer could tempt their board into considering selling Gordon to Chelsea.
