Antonio Blanco closing in on joining Cadiz

Antonio Blanco is reportedly on the verge of moving across La Liga on loan by joining Cadiz from Real Madrid this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Diario de Cadiz, Antonio Blanco is the latest Real Madrid academy graduate set for a departure in the ongoing transfer window. The 22-year-old will move across La Liga by joining Cadiz on a season-long loan deal this summer.

Antonio Blanco started his youth career at Montalbán before joining Séneca in 2010. The Spanish midfield prospect moved to Real Madrid three years later before going from strength to strength at La Fabrica, where he has been one of the most promising youngsters in the past half a decade.

The 22-year-old turned professional by making his debut for Real Madrid Castilla in 2019 before earning his first-team bow in April 2021 under Zinedine Zidane. But Blanco has turned out only four more times for Real Madrid since then, primarily playing for the reserve side in the 2021/22 season.

But Blanco now needs to feature prominently at the first-team stage to progress exponentially as he has outgrown the level of football played by Real Madrid Castilla. But with game-time likely to come at a premium at Real Madrid, where the midfield department stacked, a loan move will benefit the Spaniard.

There has been no shortage of suitors pursuing the 22-year-old midfield prospect, with several clubs from La Liga showing interest in him. Getafe first showed serious interest in the Real Madrid prodigy before Cadiz joined them in the race to sign the young midfielder this summer.

Sergio has a thin midfield department at his disposal, with the Cadiz manager having to use a centre-back – Fali – in the middle of the park in his team’s La Liga season opener against Real Sociedad. Blanco has thus emerged as a viable target for Cadiz, with the Andalusian club now closing in on signing him.

According to the report, the Real Madrid midfield prospect will move across La Liga to join Cadiz on a season-long loan deal. And with Sergio having a crisis in the midfield department, a stint with the Andalusian club should benefit Blanco immensely. It will be interesting to see if the temporary move sees the light of day in the coming days.
