West Ham United are reportedly in advanced talks with PSG for German defender Thilo Kehrer, who has entered the final year of his contract.

According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, Thilo Kehrer could be on the verge of joining West Ham United, with the London club engaged in advanced talks with PSG. The 25-year-old centre-back has entered the final year of his PSG contract, with a fee of €12 million plus add-ons mooted.

West Ham United have continued their search for a new centre-back as David Moyes wants someone to join the team before the summer transfer window shuts down. The need has arisen in the wake of the injury sustained by summer arrival Nayef Aguerd and Issa Diop’s move to Fulham.

Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna and Aguerd are Moyes’s current options at the back, with the Moroccan international unavailable for the next few months. Ogbonna is yet to prove his full fitness, while there are some similar doubts with Dawson.

Bringing in a new centre-back is imperative for West Ham as a long season awaits. The Hammers have already lost the first two games of their domestic campaign, and Moyes will look at new arrivals that will improve his current squad. In recent days, there have been a few players mentioned as options, with the club reportedly contacting Manchester United for Eric Bailly.

However, it may seem like Thilo Kehrer is the player who could arrive in the coming days. West Ham are in advanced talks with PSG for the 25-year-old defender, who has entered the final year of his deal with Les Parisiens.

PSG are looking at a high-profile option before the summer transfer window shuts down, although they might look at cashing in on Kehrer if the right offer arrives. West Ham are in discussions over a fee of €12 million plus add-ons, and a summer move may see the light of the day.

Kehrer has been on West Ham’s radar for some time now, and the move seems to be edging closer. Whether the PSG defender likes the idea of moving to London and playing for the Hammers remains to be seen. It could be a smart move for West Ham, who could significantly strengthen their backline with the German international. He could also be part of their defence for years to come, as he remains some years from entering his peak.
