Everton are confident of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

According to Football Insider, Premier League side Everton are confident about landing 22-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers star Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

The English youth international has been with Wolves since 2008 and rose through the ranks, making his first team debut in the FA Cup as a 16-year-old in 2017. Gibbs-White has since made 88 appearances for the club, scoring thrice and assisting once across all competitions.

Still just 22, the youngster has much time to refine his abilities and emerge as a leading top-flight star. Primarily a central midfielder, Gibbs-White is versatile enough to play in several positions across the frontline and the middle of the park.

This makes him a potentially invaluable addition to Everton, who lack dynamism in their first XI. The Toffees lost their first two games of the campaign and will need to turn their fortunes around quickly to avoid another relegation dogfight.

Frank Lampard’s side have been after the player for a while and had already seen a bid turned down by the Molineux outfit. However, with Wolves in need of cash and the player open to moving to Goodison Park, there is hope amongst the Merseyside faithful that an agreement can be reached soon, as they plan to return with a new offer.

Everton will, however, face competition from Nottingham Forest, who are preparing an improved bid themselves. The onus is now on the Toffees who have to make an offer that is deemed acceptable at the Molineux. With only a couple of weeks to go before the summer transfer window slams shut, they must act fast.

An excellent technician of the ball, Gibbs-White isn’t just good at retaining possession but has a keen eye for a pass that can split open opposition defences. He is also a reliable dribbler who can carry the ball forward from midfield, adding bite to the Toffees’ attack.

Bringing in the 22-year-old would be key for Everton, given how Dele Alli has flattered to deceive in the Blue. The former Tottenham man is a shadow of his former self, and it is difficult to imagine him making a difference on Merseyside.

The arrivals of Amadou Onana and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (loan return) offer Everton a defensive shield that could develop into a reliable double pivot in the months to come. Adding Gibbs-White into the mix will hand Lampard a troika of players who will add quality and balance to the squad.
