Inter Milan midfield prospect Cesare Casadei reportedly prefers to join Chelsea over Ligue 1 club OGC Nice this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Chelsea have received a major boost in their pursuit of Cesare Casadei as the Inter Milan midfielder prefers joining the Blues over OGC Nice, who also want to sign him.
Casadei has been building a reputation as one of the best young midfield prospects in Italy with his performances for Inter Milan’s Primavera outfit. The 19-year-old has 24 goals and seven assists from 65 appearances for them but is yet to make his first-team debut for the Nerazzurri.
Despite him not playing a single minute of senior football so far, there is a lot of interest in Casadei due to the potential he has shown. Chelsea have shown a lot of keenness to sign the 19-year-old and have already had an offer rejected from Inter Milan for his services, with the Italian giants demanding €15 million for the teenager.
Chelsea are willing to meet that valuation but face competition from OGC Nice for the youngster. However, as per the report, Casadei prefers a transfer to Chelsea over the Ligue 1 club, which hands the Blues a major boost in their pursuit of the 19-year-old.
The report claims that Casadei’s stance of wanting to join Chelsea over Nice has now given way to new talks between the Blues and Inter Milan as they try to find an agreement over a transfer fee for the young midfielder. Chelsea are yet to offer a sum close to the €15 million Inter are demanding, although there is a feeling that they will eventually match that figure.
Chelsea have already signed a young midfield prodigy this summer, bringing in Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa. But that has not stopped them from going after Casadei as well. With Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek expected to be sold and N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in their thirties, another new midfielder could benefit Chelsea.
Casadei has shown great potential so far in his youth career and could be an asset for the future for Chelsea, should they be able to sign him. With the midfielder said to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge, a move could materialise soon.
