Chelsea are reportedly prepared to offer struggling attacker Christian Pulisic in the deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Chelsea are ready to offer USMNT forward Christian Pulisic in the deal to sign attacker Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma. The Blues are not the only club interested in securing the signature of the 23-year-old Italian international, with Juventus said to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old as well.
Nicolo Zaniolo joined AS Roma in the summer of 2018 from Inter Milan and has since become an integral part of the Italian club’s squad. Th 23-year-old has represented the Giallorossi in 111 matches, scoring 22 times and providing 15 assists.
The Italian international has become an important player under Jose Mourinho and helped AS Roma win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season. In all, Zaniolo made 42 appearances for Roma across all competitions last term, scoring eight goals while providing nine assists.
The 23-year-old can play all along the frontline, including as an attacking midfielder. Last season, Zaniolo predominantly played on the right wing and was also used as a second striker in some matches. His exemplary displays earned him interest from other European giants, including Juventus and Chelsea.
Zaniolo is said to be interested in a move to Juventus, but the Bianconeri might have to fend off interest from Chelsea. The Blues are believed to be big admirers of the Italian international and are prepared to offer Christian Pulisic in a potential deal to sign the Roma star.
The USMNT forward has failed to cement a starting spot at Chelsea since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the 2019 summer transfer window. He has made a total of 115 appearances for the Blues, scoring 25 times and assisting 18 goals in the process. Pulisic has two years left on his current contract with the west London club, as many as Zaniolo has on his Roma deal.
However, as per the report, Roma have already knocked back Chelsea’s approach, and the Blues will now have to come up with another offer to convince the Serie A giants. Tottenham have also been in the market for Zaniolo, with Roma said to be asking for Oliver Skipp in a potential deal.
