Juventus set to table loan-to-buy bid for Ferland Mendy

Real Madrid will reportedly soon have a loan-to-buy bid on the table for 27-year-old French defender Ferland Mendy, with Juventus keen on signing him.

According to a report by 90 min, Ferland Mendy is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible loan move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants will soon submit a loan-to-buy bid to secure the services of the 27-year-old Real Madrid defender this summer.

Ferland Mendy joined Real Madrid from Lyon in July 2019 and almost immediately usurped Marcelo to become the first-choice left-back for Los Blancos. Since then, the French international has been a regular for Real Madrid, turning out 100 times while chipping in with five goals and nine assists.

The 27-year-old has dealt with fitness issues and has been the first-choice left-back for the last three years. But recent reports have claimed that the Spanish giants are open to cashing in on him in the summer transfer window following Antonio Rudiger’s arrival. Mendy’s uncertain situation has captured the attention of Juventus.

The interest from Juventus stems from the regressing performance levels of Alex Sandro, who has been the Italian club’s first-choice left-back for over half a decade. The Brazilian international’s poor performances have compelled Juventus to enter the market for a left-back, especially with Luca Pellegrini also being uninspiring.

Recent reports have claimed that Pellegrini could depart from the Allianz Stadium in the summer transfer window, with West Ham United showing interest in the Italian international. The Serie A giants thus need to sign a left-back urgently, with Mendy emerging as a viable target.

According to 90 min, Juventus might soon table a loan-to-buy bid to sign Mendy from Real Madrid. But recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid will demand around €50 million to sell the 27-year-old defender in the summer transfer window.

It is also unclear if Real Madrid will be open to selling Mendy following Carlo Ancelotti’s proclamation that Los Blancos will not enter the market for another player this summer. Mendy’s departure will leave David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger as the only left-back options for the Real Madrid boss, which will be an odd situation for the Merengues. It will be interesting to see if Juventus can land the 27-year-old this summer.
