Arsenal have received a bid from Serie A side Hellas Verona for out-of-favour centre-back Pablo Mari, who is also a target for Monza.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Hellas Verona have become the latest club interested in Arsenal defensive outcast Pablo Mari. The Gialloblu have tabled an offer for the 28-year-old centre-back, who is also a target for newly-promoted Serie A side Monza.

Pablo Mari arrived at Arsenal in January 2020 from Brazilian side Flamengo, signing on loan until the end of the season. And the Spaniard did enough to convince manager Mikel Arteta to sign him up permanently later in the summer. However, the left-footed centre-half struggled for game-time in the next couple of seasons at the Emirates and failed to make the most of the chances that came his way.

After 22 appearances for Arsenal, Mari left the club to join Udinese on loan in January earlier this year. The 28-year-old was a hit in Italy, as he impressed in his 15 appearances, even scoring a couple of goals. The Zebrette were considering a permanent move, but things have gone quiet on that front, although he is attracting plenty of interest from Italy.

Monza, who have achieved promotion to Serie A, have shown an interest in signing Pablo Mari and wish to sign him on a loan deal with an obligation for purchase. While a deal was believed to be close, Hellas Verona have now entered the fray for the signing of the Arsenal defender and have put forth an offer.

Hellas Verona have had their sights on the Spaniard for some time now and have decided to take their interest further by tabling a bid to sign the 28-year-old Arsenal star.

According to Romano, Hellas Verona are willing to sign Pablo Mari permanently, unlike Monza, who want to take him on loan for the season and purchase him next year, provided they stay up in the Italian top flight. So, from a financial viewpoint, selling him to Hellas Verona would be beneficial for Arsenal.

A decision on Pablo Mari’s future is expected to be made imminently, as his time at the Emirates comes to an end.
