Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed personal terms over a five-year contract with Udinese’s Italian defensive prospect, Destiny Udogie.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have taken another step towards signing Destiny Udogie from Serie A side Udinese after agreeing personal terms with the 19-year-old and his agents. The teenage left-back will reportedly sign a five-year deal with the north London club, with a move expected to be finalised next week.

Udogie has earned the reputation of being one of the most exciting young talents in Italy, after enjoying a fine 2021/22 campaign at Udinese. Having joined the Zebrette on loan last summer, the 19-year-old made 35 Serie A appearances, scoring five goals and setting up four more for his teammates, prompting Udinese to sign him permanently.

However, the Italian outfit are ready to cash in on him immediately, with Tottenham set to become Udogie’s next destination. Ever since Fabio Paratici became the director of the north London club, Spurs have done a lot of their recruitment from Serie A, having brought in the likes of Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski and more recently, Ivan Perisic.

Now, it looks like Udogie is in line to become the latest import from the Italian top-flight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Lilywhites have Ryan Sessegnon and Perisic as options for the left-sided wing-back position currently. However, the latter is not a long-term option and will need to be replaced in a couple of seasons.

So, Paratici and manager Antonio Conte are already investing in the future by signing Udogie as a potential long-term replacement for Perisic. Reports earlier in the week indicated that Tottenham had already reached a verbal agreement with Udinese for the signing of the 19-year-old left-back in a deal worth around €25 million.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham have reached a full agreement with Udogie and his representatives over personal terms, bringing him closer to becoming a Lilywhite. As per the update from the journalist, the teenage prodigy will be signing a five-year deal with the Premier League side, who began the new season with a resounding victory over Southampton.

Romano claims that the deal with Udinese will be finalised over the next week. He also adds that Tottenham could loan Udogie back to the Serie A club as he is viewed as one for the future by the club management and is not a part of Conte’s immediate plans.
