Fulham are reportedly in talks with Brazilian giants Corinthians regarding the transfer of former Chelsea attacker Willian.

According to Goal, Premier League newcomers Fulham are eyeing a summer deal for 33-year-old Brazilian wide man Willian.

Willian spent several years in Europe, making a name for himself at Shakhtar Donetsk, Chelsea and Arsenal before returning to his homeland with Corinthians. The Brazilian attacker’s performances have caught the attention of Fulham, who are keen to strengthen their roster.

The Cottagers breezed through the EFL Championship last season, winning the second division title by a canter. Unfortunately, the top-flight is another ball game, and Fulham have been handed a difficult opening day test against Liverpool.

An infusion of quality is key, and the west London club are in talks with the Timao regarding a move for the 33-year-old wide man. Willian has a clause in his contract that will see him return to Europe, and Fulham are keen to exploit just that.

The Brazilian wide man is a major player for Vitor Pereira’s outfit but has struggled with injuries since moving to South America. While he is past his best, Willian can still do a job at a reasonable level. More so, his experience could have a big role to play in whether Fulham stay up or not. Given what is at stake, taking a punt on the player’s services is not a bad idea.

Capable of playing in several positions, Willian is a veteran of the Premier League and knows exactly what needs to be done to succeed. The same cannot be said of the Cottagers, who have struggled to retain top-flight status in recent times.

The 33-year-old wide man is also a daft hand at set-pieces and will add another dimension to the Fulham attack. The Cottagers already landed Andreas Pereira earlier in the summer, but the Brazilian international lacks the x-factor to make the difference. Willian’s potential arrival could also allow Marco Silva to have Pereira mentored and realise his full potential.

The former Chelsea winger is well acquainted with London and should not have any issues returning to the English capital. Whichever way one looks at it, Willian, at 33, could still be the best-attacking midfielder on Fulham’s roster if he arrived at Craven Cottage.
