Promising Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is reportedly closing in on joining Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
According to a report by London Evening Standard, 19-year-old defensive prospect Levi Colwill is set to leave Chelsea in a permanent move to join Brighton & Hove Albion in a £25 million deal. The Blues, on the other hand, are reportedly set to complete the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea entered the summer transfer window with multiple positions in need of strengthening, especially following the high-profile departures of Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Romelu Lukaku. While the Blues have brought in Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling, they are still working on many other deals.
The west London outfit were nowhere to be seen in the pursuit of Marc Cucurella, with the Spaniard said to be closing in on a move to Manchester City at one point. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Chelsea hijacked their rival’s move for the former Barcelona full-back and are now in a prime position to sign him after agreeing on personal terms with the player.
As part of a separate deal, the Blues will see their 19-year-old defensive prospect Levi Colwill move to their fellow Premier League club. The teenage prodigy was expected to play as an understudy to the first-choice options this season. However, with Cucurella now set to arrive at Stamford Bridge, Colwill will struggle to put minutes on the board at Chelsea.
Been told Chelsea will have a buy back clause in Levi Colwill deal with Brighton, this is a key point of the negotiation now set to be completed. ?? #CFC

As a result, he is now on his way to Brighton as a replacement for Cucurella. As per the London Evening Standard, the Seagulls are expected to pay around £25 million for the young defender. Moreover, Chelsea have inserted a buy-back clause in Colwill’s contract worth around £50 million.
Crystal Palace were also said to be keeping tabs on the England under-21 international, who still has three years left on his Chelsea contract. The Chelsea prospect spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Huddersfield Town and made 32 appearances for the Terriers across competitions, scoring twice and assisting one goal.
The Chelsea academy product was expected to make his first-team debut this season but now looks set to depart the west London club. All that now seems to remain is the official announcement before Brighton sign Colwill in a £25 million deal from their fellow Premier League club.
