Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer €80 million to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The reigning Ligue 1 champions are ready to shell out €80 million to secure the services of the Lazio midfielder, a target for Real Madrid.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has established himself as one of Europe’s best midfielders since joining Lazio from KRC Genk in August 2015. A mainstay in midfield for club and country, the Serbian international has gone from strength to strength in the last seven years, amassing 58 goals and 51 assists in 294 appearances for the Serie A club.
The 27-year-old has invariably become one of the hottest properties in the transfer market this summer, with some of Europe’s most high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. Real Madrid and PSG are two of Milinkovic-Savic’s prospective suitors this month.
The interest from Real Madrid stems from the advancing years of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. The two midfield stalwarts are approaching the end of their respective careers, compelling Los Blancos to scour the market for a long-term replacement for the duo. Milinkovic-Savic has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid.
But following Carlo Ancelotti’s recent comments about the state of his squad, Real Madrid will likely launch the offensive to sign the Lazio midfielder next summer. However, the Merengues face stiff competition from PSG in the race to sign Milinkovic-Savic, with Les Parisiens ready to sign him this year.
The Ligue 1 champions have already bolstered their midfield unit by securing the services of Vitinha. But Idrissa Gueye and Georginio Wijnaldum face uncertain futures at PSG, with the former closing in on rejoining Everton and the latter keen on moving to AS Roma. Milinkovic-Savic is thus an option worth considering for PSG.
According to the report, the French giants are ready to offer €80 million to sign the 27-year-old. Such an offer might tempt Lazio to cash in on the Serb while forcing Real Madrid to reconsider the stance of not signing any more players in the summer transfer window. But a move to PSG might be on the cards for Milinkovic-Savic this summer.
