Manchester United have reportedly presented Napoli an offer for Fabian Ruiz through his agent, but the Italian outfit consider it too low.

According to Italian publication Il Matino, Manchester United have submitted an offer to Napoli for the signing of Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz through his agent. However, the figure offered by the Red Devils is deemed too low by the Italian giants.

Ruiz has been part of the Napoli setup since 2018 when he arrived from Real Betis. The 26-year-old has grown into a vital player for the Partneopei and has been key to their rise in prominence in the Italian top-flight in recent years. However, the Spanish international has entered the final year of his contract at the club and is keen on leaving.

Ruiz has attracted the interest of several clubs such as Arsenal and West Ham United. Real Madrid are also reportedly keen on signing the Spaniard, although they plan to wait until 2023 to capture his services on a free transfer. But Manchester United are planning to beat their competitors for the 26-year-old’s signing and have seemingly acted on their interest.

Manchester United are in the market for midfield reinforcements after losing Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic this summer. The 20-time English champions have spent a good part of the transfer window chasing Frenkie de Jong with no result to show for it, as the Barcelona midfielder has no desire to join them.

While they are not yet giving up their hopes of landing the Dutchman, Manchester United seem to be preparing a Plan B in the form of Fabian Ruiz. The Red Devils made contact with the midfielder’s entourage recently to assess if he would be open to joining them this summer and have now taken a step further in their pursuit of the 26-year-old by tabling an offer.

Indeed, the report states that Ruiz’s agent has taken the offer from Manchester United to Napoli, claiming that it is one of the major reasons that the Spanish international is unwilling to discuss a contract extension with the Italians. However, it is claimed that the offer from the Premier League bigwigs is too low, with Napoli demanding at least €25 million for their contract rebel.

The €25 million valuation should not be an issue for Manchester United if they are serious about signing Ruiz. It will be interesting to see if they return with an improved offer for Ruiz or continue to press ahead with their pursuit of de Jong, which has proven futile so far.
