Miralem Pjanic offers himself to Juventus

Miralem Pjanic has reportedly offered himself to former club Juventus amid uncertainties surrounding his Barcelona future this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Miralem Pjanic has offered himself to Juventus over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are considering re-signing the Barcelona outcast, but Leandro Paredes is also on their radar.

Miralem Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus in a bizarre deal involving Arthur Melo, who went the other way. But two years since the completion of the operation, the pair of transfers has been extremely disastrous for all the four parties involved, with neither player making his mark.

Incredibly, Arthur is now keen on returning to Barcelona this summer, while on the other hand, Pjanic is longing to move back to Juventus in the ongoing transfer window. And the Bosnian international, surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, has offered himself to his former club, with Barcelona happy to sell him.

Juventus seemed to be done with seeking a signing to bolster the midfield department following the return of Paul Pogba in a Bosman move. But the French midfielder has picked up a long-term injury that might rule him out for most of the first half of the 2021/22 season, forcing the Serie A giants to dip their toes in the market for another midfielder.

In addition, the Italian heavyweights have released Aaron Ramsey, while Arthur Melo and Adrien Rabiot face uncertain futures at the Allianz Stadium. The need to sign a new midfielder has thus accentuated for Juventus, with Pjanic a viable target, owing to his prior experience with the Bianconeri.

Several other midfielders have also popped up on Juventus’s radar, including Jorginho and Lucas Torreira. But the Serie A giants are primarily considering their options between Pjanic and Leandro Paredes, who will likely leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see if Juventus will respond favourably to being offered the chance to re-sign Pjanic from Barcelona. For now, the out-of-favour Bosnian midfielder faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou heading into the 2022/23 season.
