Manchester United are reportedly in negotiations with Turkish club Trabzonspor over the possible departure of academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Turkish club Trabzonspor are interested in signing Axel Tuanzebe in the ongoing transfer window and are in talks with Manchester United over a possible transfer.

Tuanzebe is a product of the Manchester United academy. The youngster made his first-team debut during Jose Mourinho’s reign as manager but has found it hard to carve down a regular berth in the senior setup and, as a result, has been farmed out on various loan spells in recent times.

Tuanzebe joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan last summer but cut the spell short in January to move to Napoli for the remainder of the campaign. However, the stint in Italy turned out to be a poor choice as he hardly saw any game-time with the Partenopei

Now back in Manchester, Tuanzebe finds himself out of favour under new manager Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has brought in Lisandro Martinez to reinforce the backline. And with Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones ahead of Tuanzebe in the pecking order, an exit beckons for the academy graduate.

There had been talks about a potential transfer to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, while newly-promoted club Bournemouth have also been linked recently. But Turkish outfit Trabzonspor have taken a keen interest in signing Tuanzebe and are now in talks with Manchester United to sign the 24-year-old.

As iterated earlier, Tuanzebe is not a part of ten Hag’s plans. And considering that he has less than a year left on his contract with Manchester United, a permanent transfer is looking extremely likely. As reported by Galetti, talks between the 20-time English champions and the Turkish outfit are progressing well.

So, there is a good chance that a transfer could materialise for Tuanzebe. The 24-year-old has made just 37 senior appearances so far for Manchester United. And while he had been tipped as a future club captain by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the defender’s time at Old Trafford could be fast approaching its end.
