Barcelona, Real Madrid offered Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva on Tottenham radar

Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer.

According to a report by French publication L’Equipe, Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva could be nearing an exit from the Etihad as his agent Jorge Mendes has offered him to multiple clubs around Europe, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona, with some reports claiming the Catalan giants had agreed upon a fee of less than €80 million with Manchester City for him. But there has been no progress since, with Mendes still trying to find a way out for the 27-year-old playmaker.

Bernardo Silva joined Manchester City in a €50 million deal from AS Monaco in 2017 and has been a crucial component of the dominance of Pep Guardiola’s side in England. In five years, he has made 249 appearances across competitions for the Premier League giants, scoring 48 times and assisting 50 goals.

In the recently-concluded season, which saw Manchester City win the Premier League title on the last day, Silva was a talismanic figure, playing 50 matches across competitions and contributing 13 goals and seven assists. However, Silva now seems to be headed towards an exit, despite Guardiola’s assurance last month that the Portuguese international is not for sale.

Barcelona were considered the favourites to sign the midfielder, but their failure to convince Frenkie de Jong to leave the club has stalled the move. Mendes has now offered Bernardo to Real Madrid as well, making it a two-way race for the former Benfica man.

Mendes is also trying to find Cristiano Ronaldo a way out of Old Trafford. The former Real Madrid talisman is keen on leaving the Red Devils this summer in search of UEFA Champions League football but has failed to find a suitor so far.

Ronaldo has been offered to multiple European giants, including the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, but all of them have rejected the opportunity to get him on board. Manchester United, on the other hand, are not willing to sell him this summer and insist he honours his contract. As for Silva, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid or Barcelona will take up the opportunity to sign the Manchester City man.
