Chelsea willing to let go of Hakim Ziyech for £8.4 million

Chelsea are ready to offload AC Milan target Hakim Ziyech for just £8.4 million as Thomas Tuchel considers the Moroccan surplus to requirements.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are prepared to allow Hakim Ziyech to leave the club for £8.4 million, which would be a substantial loss on their £33 million investment in the Moroccan. AC Milan continue their push to complete a deal, with the attacking midfielder open to joining the Serie A side.

Hakim Ziyech was one of Ajax’s top-performing players, when Chelsea snapped up the Moroccan star for £33 million two years ago. He was tipped for big things at Stamford Bridge, although injury and the adaptation period hampered his early progress.

Things have gotten worse for Ziyech after Thomas Tuchel’s arrival as the German tends to use the attacking midfielder from time to time, but never consistently. He did perform well in patches, but that wasn’t enough to cement a starting spot in the team. His situation has led to the Blues considering sanctioning a departure for the playmaker.

Chelsea reportedly want only £8.4 million to allow the 29-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge, even though the Blues are finding it difficult to sign their preferred targets in this window.

AC Milan have been confident about signing Ziyech as the player is open to joining the San Siro outfit. Other clubs have been interested in Ziyech, but the Serie A champions are an attractive destination for the 29-year-old as they will be playing in the Champions League and challenging for the title.

Milan remain keen on adding a player of Ziyech’s profile, having chased Charles De Ketelaere this month. Club Brugge are not ready to accept their recent offer as it is less than their expectations. Instead, the Belgian side are considering accepting Leeds United’s proposal reported to be worth around £31 million.

Milan are unwilling to go beyond their valuations, which could derail the pursuit altogether. Hence they have turned their sights back towards Ziyech, who is an economically viable option compared to De Ketelaere if Chelsea are indeed looking for just £8.4 million for his services. Furthermore, the Moroccan is also expected to take a pay cut on his current salary of £5 million per season.

Ziyech will be a wise addition to this Milan squad, fresh from winning the Serie A title. A sum of £8.4 million will be affordable for the Italian champions and there could be a strong chance that this move sees the light of the day.
