Club Brugge are ready to accept Leeds United’s transfer offer for Charles De Ketelaere.

According to HLN, as relayed by Sport Witness, Belgian giants Club Brugge are ready to accept the offer made by Premier League side Leeds United for Charles De Ketelaere.

The 21-year-old is one of the finest young talents to come out of Belgium in recent years and is a mainstay in the Brugge first XI. An attacking midfielder, Ketelaere’s vision, coupled with his attacking acumen, makes him a reliable playmaker who can lay opportunities on a player to strikers.

The Belgian’s traits could make the difference for Leeds, who struggled to find the back of the net last season. The Yorkshire side couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo and outscored just four teams in the Premier League last season. The loss of attacking stalwart Raphinha to Barcelona adds further pressure on other players to step up and be counted.

Unfortunately for the Whites, Kalvin Phillips has joined Manchester City, leaving a void in the middle of the park. While the Englishman and De Ketalaere fulfil different roles, the latter could become the lynchpin for Jesse Marsch’s new-look Leeds outfit.

Leeds United bound?

With Luis Sinisterra now in their ranks, Leeds have a right-winger who can take on Raphinha’s role on the wing. Bringing in De Ketelaere will give them yet another playmaker in the centre, adding more dynamism to the attack. It could prove to be an inspired signing if he develops as expected.

Leeds have been long-term admirers of the player and have been linked heavily with him all summer. Italian champions AC Milan have also been linked with a move for the 21-year-old but are not ready to fork out what Brugge are demanding. This leaves Leeds in the driving seat at least as far as making a bid is concerned.

The player has his heart set on a move to San Siro and has shown little enthusiasm in moving to Elland Road. With Brugge now ready to accept a bid worth between €37-40m for the Belgian, the onus is on the Yorkshire outfit to sell their project to the player.

Brugge are less than amused with the player’s antics that are subtly hinting at forcing a move to Milan. Unless the Rossoneri can fork out the asking price, De Ketelaere might be left with little choice but to switch to the Premier League.
