Chelsea have reportedly been offered a chance to sign PSG defender Thilo Kehrer but the Blues have no interest in the German international.
According to BILD’s Christian Falk, Chelsea were offered an opportunity to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain and Germany defender Thilo Kehrer. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side held no interest in the 25-year-old.
Kehrer has been with PSG since 2018 when he joined from boyhood club Schalke. A versatile operator, the defender has made 128 appearances for the French heavyweights so far, mostly at centre-back or right-back. He has not exactly been a regular in the side for Les Parisiens and started just 16 Ligue 1 matches last season.
With Kehrer’s contract expiring next year and PSG looking to bring in new defenders this summer, the German international has become an expendable member of the squad, with the Ligue 1 champions ready to sell him. In their efforts to offload the 25-year-old, it seems that the French giants offered Kehrer to Chelsea.
It is no secret that Chelsea are in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer. The Blues have lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger and could see Cesar Azpilicueta depart Stamford Bridge as well. So, even though Kalidou Koulibaly has arrived, Thomas Tuchel’s side want at least one more central defender.
After missing out on Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake, Chelsea had set their sights on Jules Kounde. But the Frenchman is on the verge of joining Barcelona, which leaves the Londoners looking at other options in the market. Hoping to make the most of the Blues’ desperation, Kehrer, who worked under Tuchel at PSG, was offered to them this summer.
However, as per the update from Christian Falk, Chelsea held no interest in the German international. Instead, the BILD journalist claims that Kehrer’s PSG teammate Presnel Kimpembe is among the priorities for Chelsea. The Blues are in talks with the French capital club for the signing of Kimpembe, and it remains to be seen if those talks lead to anything fruitful.
As things stand, though, Chelsea have no interest in signing Kehrer, but Kimpembe remains on the Blues’ agenda. However, the wast Londoners will face competition from Juventus for the French international’s signing.
