Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an enquiry for 23-year-old AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo.

According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an enquiry for AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo as they step up their pursuit of the Italian international. Spurs are keen to add one more attacker to the squad after signing Richarlison from Everton.

Nicolo Zaniolo joined AS Roma from Inter Milan in the 2018 summer transfer window and has since made 111 appearances for the Giallorossi across competitions. The 23-year-old was a regular under Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese tactician led the Serie A outfit to the UEFA Europa Conference League title last term.

However, as things stand, the Italian international is closing in on an exit, with multiple clubs showing interest, including Tottenham. Juventus were among the first to show interest as Paulo Dybala neared an exit. The Argentine international has now coincidentally joined AS Roma, paving the way for Zaniolo’s exit.

The Bianconeri, however, failed to come to an agreement with Roma over a transfer fee, putting Tottenham in the driving seat. Antonio Conte views Zaniolo as an exciting player who would add depth to Tottenham’s attacking department as they prepare to fight for trophies on multiple fronts next season.

With just two years remaining on his contract, and Roma having already signed a replacement in Dybala, the 23-year-old seems to be nearing an exit from Stadio Olimpico. The Giallorossi have put a €50 million price tag on the 23-year-old Italian international as Tottenham made an official enquiry for him.

Spurs have been quite active in the transfer market this summer and are eager to complete their business before the season starts. They have already made six signings in Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, and Richarlison. But Tottenham want to add one more player.

They were also in the market for Barcelona outcast Memphis Depay, who has just a year remaining on his contract, with the Blaugrana holding out for a €20 million fee. But the Dutchman has reportedly decided against joining Tottenham and wants to analyse more options before making a final call. So it will be interesting to see if Spurs sign Zaniolo instead.
