Everton are reportedly interested in securing the services of Belgian midfield prodigy Aster Vranckx from VfL Wolfsburg this summer.

According to French journalist Loic Tanzi, VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx is a wanted man in the Premier League, with Everton and Nottingham Forest interested in signing the 19-year-old Belgian.

Vranckx came through the youth ranks of Belgian club KV Mechelen and made close to 50 senior appearances for them before moving to Germany last year by signing for Wolfsburg. The teenage midfielder enjoyed a decent debut campaign with the Bundesliga outfit, featuring 28 times in which he scored two goals.

An exciting young midfielder who can perform in multiple roles in the centre of the park, Vranckx is also the captain of the Belgian Under-21 national team. While he is a raw talent, the teenager is already gathering a lot of admirers in the transfer market, with Everton emerging as the youngster’s suitors.

Everton are going through a difficult situation currently. Having avoided relegation by the slimmest of margins last season, the Toffees are embroiled in financial issues which are hampering their objectives in the transfer market. Hence, Frank Lampard will have to pick and choose his targets carefully and look to close the deals at the earliest possible.

Midfield is an area that Everton must look to strengthen this summer having bid goodbye to Fabian Delph and Donny van de Beek, who is back at Manchester United after his loan spell. Furthermore, Andre Gomes and Allan have been linked with exits this summer, which would leave Lampard short on options in the middle of the park.

So, Everton will need to invest in a new midfielder. The Merseysiders are making a push to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves. But they would more than one signing in the midfield department, leading to the Toffees eyeing a move for Wolfsburg’s Vranckx.

However, Everton will have to face competition from newly-promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest, who are also interested in the 19-year-old midfielder. On top of that, Vranckx is contracted with Wolfsburg until 2025. Given his promise and the length of his contract, the German outfit could demand a sizeable fee for the Belgian prodigy, potentially putting him out of Everton’s reach.
