La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly preparing an improved bid with a fixed payment worth €50 million to sign Robert Lewandowski.
According to a report by German publication Sport1, Barcelona might finally crack the code to sign Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are ready to shell out a fixed payment worth €50 million to prise their priority target away from Bayern Munich.
Robert Lewandowski has burned nearly all his bridges with Bayern Munich despite being a loyal servant and an incredibly prized asset for the Bavarian giants in the last eight years. The 33-year-old has a brilliant tally of 344 goals and 72 assists in 374 appearances for the German outfit and will go down in history as one of the best strikers ever.
But Lewandowski has entered the final year of his contract and will not sign a new deal with Bayern Munich. The Polish international has also publicly revealed that he wants to depart from the Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window, with Barcelona his preferred destination, even though the Bayern Munich board members continue to assert that he will not depart.
Barcelona struggled to net goals consistently following Lionel Messi’s shock departure last summer. Memphis Depay was Barcelona’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season, with just 13 strikes to his name, although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was prolific in the second half of the campaign.
But the Catalan giants need to bring in a striker who guarantees at least one goal in every game, and they do not need to look any further than Lewandowski. The stumbling block for Barcelona has been Bayern Munich’s stubbornness to hold on to the veteran forward while slapping a €50 million price tag on him.
Some reports have even suggested that Bayern Munich might demand around €60 million for the 33-year-old, but they are likely to agree to a fixed payment of €50 million. And after facing three rejections from the Bundesliga champions, Barcelona might finally succumb to the German club’s demands.
