Juventus interested in Real Madrid starlet Rafa Marin

Juventus are reportedly interested in Real Madrid defensive prospect Rafa Marin, who has entered the final year of his contract with the Spanish giants.

According to the print edition of Tuttosport, as relayed by Calciomercato, Real Madrid youngster Rafa Marin has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A heavyweights Juventus this summer.

Rafa Marin joined the Real Madrid youth setup from the Sevilla youth academy in 2016 and has since enjoyed steady progress through the ranks at the Spanish capital outfit. He made his debut for Real Madrid’s Castilla outfit in September last year and has since featured 29 times, although the 20-year-old is yet to make his senior bow for the club.

Marin has entered the final year of his contract with Real Madrid which has sparked speculations over his future. Los Blancos have already knocked back several offers for the young defender and intend to hand him a new contract.

But Juventus have not been discouraged by that and have shown an interest in signing Rafa Marin from Real Madrid. The Bianconeri are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer after having had to see Giorgio Chiellini leave as a free agent. In addition, Matthijs de Ligt is on the verge of an exit, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea battling it out for his signing.

So, Massimiliano Allegri’s side are on the lookout for a new centre-back. While they are fighting it out with Chelsea and Barcelona for the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly, the Italian giants have also set their sights on a potential move for Real Madrid youngster Marin.

However, signing the 20-year-old La Fabrica graduate could be easier said than done for the Bianconeri. As iterated earlier, Real Madrid have no intentions of selling Marin at this moment and have already turned down plenty of offers for the Spanish prospect this summer.

So, there is a good possibility that Real Madrid will knock back Juventus’ offer should they present one. As for Marin, the 20-year-old is unlikely to get regular playing time with the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, but he is likely to sign a new contract and stay in Madrid to continue his development with Castilla.
