West Ham United are among the clubs interested in the services of AS Roma starlet Justin Kluivert this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), West Ham have expressed their desire to sign Justin Kluivert this summer. The Dutch winger currently plies his trade for AS Roma and is coming on the back of a relatively fruitful loan spell at OGC Nice. But the interested parties may have to reach deep in their pockets, as the forward has been valued at around €15 million.

During his time at Nice, Kluivert was involved in a total of 12 goals in 31 competitive appearances. Although Les Aiglons were unable to finish inside the top three in Ligue 1 this past season, his performances were still vital in helping the club finish fifth and secure a place in European football.

However, after a successful loan spell at Nice, the young forward could be on the verge of a move elsewhere. AS Roma have shown no desire to keep him at the club, so a transfer to a new club could be on the horizon, with West Ham among the European outfits interested in acquiring his services ahead of the new season.

A left winger by trade, it appears Kluivert is rated highly by David Moyes due to his electric pace on the flanks. In addition, he is capable of offering dynamism in the final third and has the ability to be productive, as reflected in his numbers at Nice.

Kluivert’s qualities could make an interesting investment for West Ham, who have had to part ways with Andriy Yarmolenko this summer. The club are also facing the prospect of losing Nikola Vlasic, who hasn’t particularly made a telling impact since joining the club.

It has accentuated the need for a new wide attacker that can make a difference in the final third and offer competition for the likes of Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen next season. The 23-year-old’s ability to play up top could make him an alternative for Michail Antonio as well.

However, signing Kluivert might not be the way to go as the Dutchman has a tendency to perform inconsistently. It has been evident during his time in the Bundesliga and even in Serie A. And with the Dutchman set to cost €15 million, it could prove to be a gamble for West Ham, who are not in a position to spend fortunes on their transfer targets this summer.

With that in mind, it would perhaps be wiser for the Hammers to set their sights on other alternatives.
