Manchester United are reportedly ready to sanction the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo for a fee of just €15 million this summer.
According to UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade, Manchester United are weighing up the possibility of selling Cristiano Ronaldo after succumbing to immense pressure in recent weeks. The Premier League giants may consider sanctioning the sale of the Portuguese icon if they receive a figure of around €15 million.
Manchester United were initially determined to keep hold of Ronaldo as they consider him one of the biggest players to have ever played for the club. They were confident the Portuguese international is going to play a key role in helping Erik ten Hag usher in a new era at Old Trafford in the coming season.
However, the Red Devils are aware they do not offer Ronaldo the best sporting prospects, having missed out on a top four finish altogether last season. With UEFA Champions League football not on offer, the former Real Madrid superstar is seeking pastures new as he looks to continue his legacy in the coveted competition.
Just days after his reported transfer request, Ronaldo has attracted the interest of a host of clubs across Europe. Bayern Munich and Barcelona were both linked with a shock move for the Manchester United striker, but it is Chelsea who have emerged as a potential destination for the Portuguese sensation.
Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new owner, reportedly had a meeting with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes over the footballer’s prospects of moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer. It appears the Blues are interested as well and are poised to make an offer for the Manchester United superstar, although Thomas Tuchel may object to the deal.
The Chelsea boss did not have much success managing a host of superstars in the PSG side a few years back and does not wish to replicate the same environment at Stamford Bridge, even as Chelsea remain in contention to sign the likes of Neymar and Ronaldo.
As for Manchester United, they have kick-started their plans to Ronaldo with the club expressing the desire to sign Bayer Leverkusen superstar Patrik Schick. RB Leipzig frontman Ander Silva has emerged as an option as well, although coach Erik ten Hag favours a move for former Ajax starlet Brian Brobbey.
