Leeds United have reportedly joined the race to sign 23-year-old Stoke City left-back Josh Tymon.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United have entered the race for the signature of Stoke City defender Josh Tymon. The English left-back is a hot property in the transfer market, with Norwich City and Rangers showing interest in the 23-year-old as well.

Tymon was signed by Stoke City in the 2017 summer transfer window from Hull City. At the time, the English defender was a highly-rated teenager, with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal tracking his development. The Reds went on to rival Stoke City for then-18-year-old’s signature, but the Potters eventually won the race.

After five seasons with Stoke City, Tymon could now be on the move again, with three clubs showing interest in securing his signature. However, among the interested parties, only Leeds United can offer him Premier League football, which could be of special interest to the defender and play a role in the potential transfer.

The Whites had a disappointing campaign in the 2022/23 season and narrowly avoided relegation. Leeds will also be without Kalvin Phillipsfor the upcoming season, and Raphinha might also leave amid interest from Barcelona and Chelsea, making it all the more important for them to strengthen in multiple positions.

Among other areas, Leeds United are eager to sign a left-back this season and have identified Josh Tymon as a potential signing. They currently have Stuart Dallas and Junior Firpo as the left-back options. But while Dallas is set to miss the start of the season due to a femoral fracture, Firpo has failed to impress since arriving from Barcelona last summer.

Tymon is a good option for Leeds, considering the English defender has played 70 matches over the last couple of EFL Championship seasons. He was one of the first names on the team sheet in the 2022/23 campaign, starting 44 league matches for Stoke City.

The Potters are aware that they will not be able to hold on to the 23-year-old for long and are expecting a modest £6 million for his signature, even with three years remaining on his current deal. Tymon signed a contract extension with Stoke just last year. It will be interesting to see if Tymon becomes the latest addition to Jesse Marsch’s squad, with Luis Sinisterra expected to arrive before him.
