Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic is reportedly keen to stay at the club and prove his doubters wrong.
According to the Daily Mail, Christian Pulisic wants to stay on at Chelsea amid rumours linking him with a Juventus move. The USMNT star has failed to settle in at Stamford Bridge in three seasons and could be approaching an exit as the Blues prepare for a summer overhaul.
Having joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, Pulisic hasn’t managed to nail down a starting spot and has mainly been used off the bench. He has shown flashes of brilliance during his 114-game stint with the club, in which he has scored 25 goals and provided 18 assists.
But the 23-year-old has struggled with a lack of game-time at the club, which has made other clubs monitor his situation. Liverpool were reportedly among the interested clubs, with the Reds eyeing him as a replacement for Sadio Mane. But their interest has now died down.
Juventus have now emerged as the latest suitors. The Bianconeri want the Blues to include Pulisic in a player-plus-cash deal for Matthijs de Ligt. The Serie A giants are well aware of Chelsea’s desperate need of defensive reinforcements and are trying to use the situation to their favour.
Thomas Tuchel has lost two first-team central defenders this summer. Antonio Rudiger has joined Real Madrid on a five-year deal, while Andreas Christensen has joined Barcelona. The likes of Jules Kounde and Nathan Ake have emerged as potential signings, along with de Ligt.
The Dutchman is reportedly rated at a massive €100 million by Juventus, which forced Barcelona to step out of the race. Chelsea continue to show interest and have prepared a €70 million offer to sign the Juventus defender, but that might not be enough, leading to the possibility of offering a player as part of the deal, with Pulisic emerging as a potential makeweight.
Despite the speculations, Pulisic is unwilling to leave Chelsea just yet as he wishes to prove himself at the club and will thus not push for an exit. The 23-year-old USMNT star still has two years remaining on his contract with the west London outfit and will push to carve out a place for himself in Thomas Tuchel’s plans going forward.
