Liverpool starlet Owen Beck could reportedly be joining Portuguese outfit Famalicao on a loan deal in the ongoing transfer window.

According to The Sun, Liverpool defensive prospect Owen Beck is poised to leave the club on loan this summer, with Portuguese side Famalicao emerging as the likeliest destination for the teenager.

Beck is a product of the Liverpool FC academy. The 19-year-old left-back joined the Reds’ youth setup at a young age from Stoke City and has gradually risen through the ranks, making a solid impression on the club officials along the way. The Wrexham-born starlet has over 40 appearances for Liverpool’s Under-23 side, with two goals and eight assists to show for his efforts.

Beck made his first-team debut for Liverpool last season, featuring twice as a substitute in the Reds’ successful Carabao Cup campaign. He was also named on the bench in a few Premier League matches by Jurgen Klopp, while the young defender also helped the Merseysiders make it to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League.

Beck is a player that Liverpool regard highly and see as a future starter. But with Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas well ahead of him in the pecking order of things under Klopp, the Merseyside giants believe that a loan spell away from the club would do the Welsh international a world of good, as regular senior football would aid his development.

It has led to Liverpool making Beck available for loan this summer, with several clubs from the EFL League One showing an interest. However, as per the report, Portuguese club Famalicao have also shown an interest in signing the 19-year-old left-back on a temporary basis. And Liverpool are leaning towards sending the Welshman abroad to help continue his progress.

Liverpool, according to the report, believe that the experience of playing outside England could prove to be valuable for Beck, leading to them favouring a loan switch to Famalicao instead of a potential move to clubs in League One.

Beck, who still has four years left on his contract with Liverpool, could thus be headed to Famalicao for the 2022/23 campaign. The 19-year-old left-back could be one of many Liverpool prospects likely to be loaned out, with the likes of Sepp van den Berg, Rhys Williams and Leighton Clarkson likely to be sent out on temporary stints this summer.
