Leeds United need to pay up to £25 million to sign Mohamed Camara

Premier League side Leeds United will need to pay up to £25 million to sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Mohamed Camara.

According to Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Leeds United will have to shell out between £17 million to £25 million to sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Mohamed Camara. The Whites are eager to strengthen in multiple positions and see Camara as a solid option for the defensive midfield position.

Camara, since joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, has made 76 appearances for the Austrian club, scoring three times and assisting seven goals in them. It was npt until the recently-concluded 2021/22 season that the Malian defensive midfielder cemented a starting spot in the squad.

He made 37 appearances for the club across competitions last season, adding a goal and five assists to his tally. However, with Premier League clubs, including Leeds United, showing interest, Camara has his heart set on a move to England. He still has three years left on his contract with the Austrian club.

Taylor claimed in a YouTube video that Camara was released from Red Bull Salzburg’s pre-season training camp to decide on his future. Leeds are yet to make an official approach but have made contact with the 22-year-old’s representatives to register their interest.

“I reported earlier in the week that Red Bull Salzburg had excused Mohamed Camara from their pre-seaosn training camp so that he could prioritise making a decision on his future,” he said.

“His head is turned by the Premier League interest. Now, as I understand it, there hasn’t been anything concrete at the moment, Leeds have been in direct contact with his representatives to confirm their interest in a move, but they are juggling other targets as well.”

“The price I was quoted in terms of discussion I had with a secure, it would be £17million to £25million in order to entice Salzburg into a sale.”

Leeds United are set to lose both Richarlison and Kalvin Phillips this summer. While the latter will join Manchester City, Raphinha’s next destination is still unclear, with Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal all vying for his signature.

The Whites are hoping to use the funds generated from the aforementioned sales to facilitate summer signings, and Malian midfielder Camara could be one of those arriving in a deal worth up to £25 million.
