Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to sell Presnel Kimpembe for €50 million this summer amid interest from Chelsea.
According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to part ways with Presnel Kimpembe. They have placed the highly-rated defender on their transfer list and are looking for a fee of around €50 million. Kimpembe’s potential exit could be a part of the club’s grand overhaul under the leadership of Luis Campos.
The Frenchman has no shortage of suitors either. Chelsea are among the clubs interested in securing the services of the PSG academy product, though they are set to face stiff competition from Juventus. The player himself, meanwhile, has reportedly offered himself to Atletico Madrid, as his agents believe he could settle in well under Diego Simeone.
Atletico Madrid, though, are unlikely to make a move unless Mario Hermoso leaves the club. Although the former Real Madrid defender has been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer, it remains unclear whether he will leave the club knowing the Magpies have recently brought in Sven Botman.
It leaves Chelsea in pole position to try and launch a move for Kimpembe. The Blues are in desperate need of bringing in attacking reinforcements in the summer after losing Antonio Rudiger to Juventus. Andreas Christensen has left the club as well, whereas the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso could potentially join him at Barcelona.
It has left a massive void in Chelsea’s defensive line, prompting Thomas Tuchel to go after a star defender. While Matthijs de Ligt has been the priority target for Tuchel, Kimpembe might not be a bad alternative considering the vast experience he offers to the table for Chelsea.
The Frenchman has also proven his mettle at the highest level of football, having notably won the FIFA World Cup with France. Kimpembe is also known for his aggression and fighting spirit which makes him quite similar to his PSG teammate Sergio Ramos.
Kimpembe certainly lacks the discipline and leadership Ramos provides to the table. But at the age of 26, he is currently at the top of his game and has room to grow as a footballer. He could thus prove to be an ideal target for Chelsea, although it remains unclear whether the Blues are open to splashing out €50 million for his services.
