Barcelona ready to pay €50 million to sign Robert Lewandowski

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly willing to cough up €50 million to secure the services of priority target Robert Lewandowski.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, as relayed by Barca Universal, Barcelona might be ready to bite the bullet and pay €50 million to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish international is valued at around the same figure by Bayern Munich.

The Robert Lewandowski transfer saga might be in the endgame now, with Barcelona prepared to offer Bayern Munich’s asking price to land their priority target. Gerard Romero has claimed that the Catalan giants are willing to produce another improved bid for the 33-year-old, with the offer likely to be worth €50 million fixed.

The Spanish journalist has added that Xavi Hernandez views the Poland captain as the absolute priority for the summer transfer window. The news of the latest offer, worth €50 million, being in the works comes in the wake of Bayern Munich rejecting Barcelona’s third bid for Lewandowski.

The veteran striker has been one of the best players in Europe during his ongoing eight-year stint with Bayern Munich. Lewandowski has carved out a distinct legacy for himself during this period and will go down in history as one of the best centre-forwards to grace the game.

Lewandowski’s tally at Bayern Munich is mind-boggling as he has amassed 344 goals and 72 assists in 374 appearances thus far. But despite going from strength to strength at the Allianz Arena, the player is keen on departing from the Bavarian club this summer, with Barcelona reportedly his preferred destination.

But Barcelona’s efforts to sign Lewandowski have proven to be futile thus far, with Bayern Munich being defiant in the face of what seems to be an inevitable exit for the 33-year-old. Several decision-makers have been vocal that they will not sell Barcelona’s priority target, even though Lewandowski has publicly asserted that he wants to leave.

The reigning Bundesliga champions have slapped a €50 million price tag on Lewandowski. And a summer transfer could be on the cards, with Barcelona finally ready to offer a base fee worth that sum. But it will not be surprising to see Bayern Munich putting up new stumbling blocks in front of Barcelona.
