Premier League trio Tottenham, Leeds United and Newcastle United are seeking a summer move for PSV Eindhoven star Noni Madueke.
According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are among three Premier League clubs keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven star Noni Madueke in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old enjoyed spells at Crystal Palace and Tottenham at the youth level before moving to the Eredivisie in 2018. He has since thrived in the Netherlands and is today a mainstay for PSB. Primarily a right-winger, he can also play up front and is an attacker with his reputation on the rise.
Madueke is not just a good dribbler but also has an eye for a pass. More so, his ability to regularly cut in from the flanks and have a go at goal makes him an excellent option to be deployed as an inside forward. His dynamism would make him an excellent addition to what has been a lethal Tottenham attack.
Tottenham are enjoying a good transfer window and are revamping their squad under Antonio Conte. However, their attack is still largely reliant on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for goals. While Dejan Kulusevksi has enjoyed a good start to life in London, he has to keep the ball rolling consistently.
The potential exits of Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn will impact Spurs’ strength in depth on the wings. Letting Madueke leave four years ago has proven to be a poor decision, and the North Londoners now have an opportunity to rectify that. Newcastle United and Leeds United will, however, provide Tottenham with intense competition for the 20-year-old’s signature.
Newcastle are flush with cash following the Saudi takeover and will be keen to make a splash this summer. They are heavily reliant on Allan Saint-Maximin in attack and could do with more options going forward, with Leeds United ace Jack Harrison emerging as a target, along with Madueke of PSV.
Madueke is rough around the edges but has the potential to develop into a dependable creative outlet in the years to come. With Kieran Trippier also on board, Eddie Howe could turn the Newcastle right flank into a source for opposition defences. The veteran defender’s ability to overlap on the wing in conjunction with Madueke’s trait of cutting inside could mirror the tactics that Liverpool uses to devastating effect.
Leeds United are also in the market for a right-winger due to the imminent departure of Raphinha. The Brazilian was the Whites’ standout player last season, and his loss will leave a significant void in Jesse Marsch’s attack. They should have no shortage of funds once Raphinha’s sale goes through, and this should give them a decent war chest to fall back on should the pursuit of Madueke lead to a bidding war.
PSV have already landed Xavi Simons this summer. Whether the former PSG man was brought in in anticipation of Madueke moving to the Premier League remains to be seen.
