Newcastle United are reportedly tracking the progress of 16-year-old Southampton attacking midfield prospect Tyler Dibling.

According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United are monitoring the development of Southampton prodigy Tyler Dibling as they weigh up a move for the teenage attacking midfielder.

Dibling is a product of the Southampton academy and has been showing great potential in his youth career so far. The 16-year-old attacking midfielder broke into the Saints’ Under-18 setup this past season and caught the eyes with some impressive displays, finishing with a return of five goals and four assists from 24 games in all competitions.

Dibling’s performances earned him a spot with the club’s B team, and he made two appearances, scoring a hat-trick in one of those games against Newcastle United’s Under-23 side at St James’ Park in April earlier this year. And it seems like the teenage sensation’s performances have managed to make a major impression on the Tynesiders, who are now keen on signing him up from Southampton.

Newcastle United have gotten moving in the summer transfer window, having already sealed the signing of three first-team stars in Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman. At the same time, though, the manager and the club’s new owners are also focusing on strengthening their academy ranks as well.

It has seen Newcastle United sign teenage prodigy Alex Murphy from Galway United while they are also closing in on the capture of Charlie McArthur from Kilmarnock FC. At the same time, they are also keeping tabs on 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy Angelo Gabriel, for whom they are already contemplating making an offer.

Now Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling has emerged as another such young prospect that the Magpies wish to add to their youth ranks this summer. The 16-year-old attacking prodigy, who has one cap for the England Under-16 side, has shown tremendous promise so far in his fledgeling career.

Adding him to their youth roster would certainly be a boost for Newcastle. However, Dibling might have a better shot at breaking into the first-team at Southampton, having already made the bench once under Ralph Hasenhuttl. So, the youngster may consider his options if Newcastle do come calling for him this summer.
