Barcelona and Real Madrid will reportedly have the chance to sign Brazilian forward Neymar this summer, with PSG ready to sell him for €50 million.

Reputed Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez has told El Chiringuito TV that Barcelona will have the chance to re-sign Neymar for just €50 million in the summer transfer window. Intermediaries have also reportedly offered the Brazilian forward to Real Madrid amid uncertainties surrounding his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar joined PSG in a world-record €222 million move in August 2017 in a transfer that sent shockwaves across Europe. The 30-year-old had ended his fruitful four-year stint with Barcelona half a decade ago, but the switch to Parc des Princes has not been entirely successful. Fitness issues have plagued the talented forward, with PSG failing to win the elusive UEFA Champions League crown.

Neymar still has a solid record for PSG, amassing 100 goals and 60 assists in 144 appearances thus far. But the Brazilian international faces an uncertain future at Parc des Princes heading into the summer transfer window, with Les Parisiens keen on offloading him ahead of the 2022/23 season. And intermediaries have offered Neymar to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona can do with a player of Neymar’s qualities, considering their preferred move for Robert Lewandowski is up in the air. While the experienced forward primarily plays through the left, he is versatile enough to reprise any role in the final third, as Xavi Hernandez would know perfectly well from their time together at Camp Nou.

With PSG’s €50 million price tag being negotiable, Barcelona might find the opportunity to re-sign Neymar attractive. But the Blaugrana might have to fend off stiff competition from Real Madrid in the race to sign the 30-year-old, with Los Blancos also having the chance to land him, according to Defensa Central.

At Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema have locked down two of the three attacking berths. But the third spot is up for grabs, with Rodrygo Goes yet to stake claim to be an undisputed first-choice attacker for Real Madrid. And with Marco Asensio’s future up in the air, the Spanish giants are scouring the market for a replacement.

Neymar is not a like-for-like option to replace Asensio, but he will still be an upgrade over the Spaniard. But it is unclear if Barcelona and Real Madrid will opt to sign Neymar from PSG for €50 million or look elsewhere to bolster their respective offensive units this summer.
