Arsenal starlet Miguel Azeez is a loan target for newly promoted Spanish side Girona, and the Gunners could consider sanctioning the move to help him develop.
According to Sky Sports, Girona have set their sights on Miguel Azeez, with Arsenal likely to sanction a loan if the conditions are favourable for the player. The Spanish side have earned a promotion to La Liga and are hoping to lure in the exciting Hale End talent on loan.
Arsenal are moving rapidly with their preferred transfer targets as Mikel Arteta hopes the new arrivals can turn them into challengers next season. The Gunners are planning on an elaborate summer window as several high-profile names are linked with a move to the Emirates.
Meanwhile, Arteta is also planning to provide the right education for his academy prospects, who may need experience on the playing field. The ideal way to achieve that is by sending the young players out on loan to clubs where they are guaranteed to play regularly.
Young striker Mika Biereth is on the verge of joining Dutch side RKC Waalwijk, while Omar Rekik has signed for Sparta Rotterdam on loan for the next season. There’s another rising star in Miguez Azeez, who could be sent on a season-long loan stint, although much will depend on the clubs interested in him.
Girona are said to be keen on the midfielder, who has shown flashes of his talents with the Arsenal Under-23 sides. The Spanish side have been promoted to La Liga via a playoff win and are keen on adding talented players to their team for the upcoming season.
While Azeez does not have significant experience in the top flight, he will consider this a good opportunity to aid his development. A move to Girona will make sense if Arsenal get guarantees over regular playing time for the 19-year-old in the upcoming season.
If Arsenal cannot get those promises in place, they might consider keeping Azeez around at the Emirates. The problem for Arteta would be accommodating the midfielders in the squad next season. They have already signed Fabio Vieira and could add one more in the coming days.
There were reports of Arsenal ceasing their pursuit of Youri Tielemans, but the Leicester star remains a possibility. In any case, there is hardly any space in the squad for Azeez to feature next season.
While he could feature in Europa League group games and play parts of the Carabao Cup, the Gunners have other players like Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny pencilled in for that, while young Charlie Patino would also be an option. So, Azeez might have to find a new club temporarily and Girona could become the 19-year-old’s destination for next season.
