Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly tabled an offer for Torino’s Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer. The reputed journalist has claimed that an ‘important proposal’ has arrived from the Blues, suggesting they have made an official bid for the 25-year-old defender.
But Chelsea are not the only club interested in the highly-rated Bremer, with Inter Milan also exploring the possibility of signing him. The Nerazzurri are bracing themselves for the potential exit of Milan Skriniar, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea involved in the race to sign him, and have identified the Brazilian defender as a possible replacement.
Torino rate the 25-year-old at €40 million, and he is Inter’s top target for the summer. The Turin-based outfit are demanding Inter include promising midfielder Cesare Casadei in any potential deal, which the Nerazzurri do not want to do. The Serie A giants are reportedly unmoved in their stance, even as reports suggest that Chelsea have made an official move.
It was reported over a month ago that the Blues are looking at Bremer as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who has joined Real Madrid this summer. Chelsea are also preparing for the exit of Andreas Christensen, who is on the verge of completing a Bosman move to Barcelona, leaving Thomas Tuchel in desperate need of at least two top-class centre-backs.
Multiple reports claim Chelsea are on the cusp of closing out a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde. They will then shift their focus to finding a partner for the Frenchman, and in that quest, Chelsea have made a move for Bremer. The report does not reveal the amount that the Blues have bid for the 25-year-old Brazilian defender.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been monitoring Bremer’s situation and reportedly made a fresh approach to sign the defender. Spurs’ representatives were reportedly set to hold talks with their Torino counterparts, the details of which are yet to come out.
Bremer has just two years left on his current contract with the Serie A club after having joined them in 2018. He has since made 110 appearances for them, also scoring 13 times and assisting five goals. The 25-year-old was named Serie A’s best defender for the recently-concluded 2021/22 season. Whether Chelsea can sign him this summer remains to be seen.
