Leeds United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca as a switch to Elland Road edges closer.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Leeds United have agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca ahead of a potential summer switch to Elland Road.
The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Atletic Vilafranca and Espanyol, eventually making his first-team bow in 2016. Roca established himself as a first-team regular, making 121 appearances for them over the next four years.
His performances at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat drew the attention of Bayern Munich, who signed him in the summer of 2020. The move to the Allianz Arena has not gone as expected with the Catalonian midfielder forced to settle for a mere 24 appearances.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, Roca possesses a good passing range and is also not afraid of sticking his foot in when required. This all-action style will come as a boon to Leeds, who lack just such a player in their midfield. With the future of Kalvin Phillips also under the scanner, Leeds must strengthen their midfield in the summer.

Roca’s skill set will certainly add more attacking impetus to the Leeds outfit and also give them a deep-lying playmaker to dictate the tempo. Jesse Marsch’s side have already reached an agreement with the 25-year-old, with a four-year deal already on the table.
Bayern Munich, for their part, are ready to part ways with Roca but are seeking €15 million for his services. Negotiations between Leeds and the Bavarian giants are currently going well, and everything points to a deal being agreed to sooner rather than later.
Roca is not quite a key player for Bayern Munich, and the German champions can afford to part ways with him. Die Roten are yet to meet Liverpool’s asking price for Sadio Mane, and selling Roca might help them plug that deficit.
One man’s surplus is another man’s treasure which could prove to be the case for Roca at Elland Road. At 25, he is entering his prime and could be a pivotal piece of Leeds’ rebuild this summer. Having already signed Danish full-back Rasmus Kristensen and while closing in on Roca after agreeing to personal terms, Leeds’s summer transfer business has gotten off to a bright start.
