Newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in getting Liverpool defender Neco Williams on board this summer.

According to 90 min, Nottingham Forest have set their sight on Liverpool right-back Neco Williams and could make a summer move for him. The newly-promoted Premier League club are in the market for a right-back and have also added Manchester City’s Issa Kabore to their list.

Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence was Nottingham’s first-choice right-back last season. The 21-year-old impressed on loan with the Championship club and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League. He was also named in the Championship Team of the Season for his performances in the recently-concluded season.

Nottingham wanted to sign Spence on a permanent deal upon promotion and were even ready to pay a club-record fee for him. But Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur intervened and are now set to sign the youngster.

The north London giants have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign the English defender, with a transfer fee of around £20 million being mooted. They are also close to agreeing on a long-term deal to make Spance their third signing of the summer.

But as Spurs complete the signing of Spence, Nottingham Forest have been left to look for other options. They have identified Liverpool’s Neco Williams among their possible signings and could make a summer move for him.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham and played 14 Championship matches for them as the Cottagers secured a return to the Premier League. The Liverpool defender scored twice and assisted as many goals in the process.

Williams has also made 33 appearances for Liverpool across competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, and could benefit from another loan spell, this time to a Premier League club.

At Nottingham Forest, the 21-year-old will get regular game time and can make a case for himself to be included in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the following season. But Forest also have a contingency plan should their move for the Liverpool defender does not pan out as planned. Manchester City’s Issa Kabore is on their transfer wishlist as well.
