Official: Real Madrid announce Aurelien Tchouameni agreement

La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have announced that they have reached an agreement to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco.

Real Madrid have made an official statement to confirm that they have reached an agreement to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco in a deal worth a reported €100 million. The French midfielder will sign a six-year contract with Los Blancos, who will present him to the Santiago Bernabeu on June 14.

Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe, with his stock skyrocketing since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last two and a half years, and he has also become a regular for the French national side.

Tchouameni featured 95 times for AS Monaco in the last two and a half years, chipping in with eight goals and seven assists. The player’s exploits captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid winning the race to sign him from the Ligue 1 club in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid had momentarily put the pursuit of Tchouameni on the back burner while they looked to sign Kylian Mbappe in a Bosman move. But the French international became the priority target for Los Blancos as soon as Mbappe decided to snub them and remain at Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid moved quickly to reach an agreement with Tchouameni over personal terms, with the 22-year-old prioritising joining the Merengues. Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were keen on beating Real Madrid to the youngster’s signature, but he remained intent on moving to the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos took little time to agree to a €100 million deal with AS Monaco, and according to The Athletic, that is the final amount of the agreement between the two clubs. As per the official announcement, Tchouameni will sign a six-year contract when he officially becomes a Real Madrid player on July 1.

Real Madrid will present Tchouameni to the Santiago Bernabeu on June 14, followed by a press conference with the media. With the completion of the €100 million deal, the French midfielder has become Real Madrid’s second summer signing following Antonio Rudiger’s arrival from Chelsea in a Bosman move.
