Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Moise Kean and have offered midfielder Douglas Luiz to Juventus as part of their offer for the striker.

According to journalist Marcello Chirico, Aston Villa are keen on signing Italian striker Moise Kean this summer and are prepared to part ways with Douglas Luiz to land the 22-year-old forward.

Kean came through the youth ranks at Juventus and made his first-team breakthrough at a very young age of 16. After making a solid impression in his handful of appearances over the next few seasons, the striker joined Everton in a big-money move in the summer of 2019 but failed to live up to expectations.

Kean spent the 2020/21 campaign away on loan at Paris Saint-Germain and enjoyed a fruitful campaign, scoring 17 goals in 41 matches. However, PSG opted not to sign the Italian international permanently. While he returned to Everton last summer and even played a couple of games at the start of the 2021/22 season, the centre-forward returned to Juventus, joining on a two-year loan deal.

As part of the loan agreement, Juventus are obligated to make his signing permanent for a transfer fee of £24 million. And, there is a chance that the Bianconeri decide to trigger that option this summer itself before flipping him for a profit amid interest from several clubs heading into the transfer window.

Indeed, West Ham United have been credited with an interest in Kean, who managed a paltry return of five goals in 32 Serie A matches in the recently-concluded campaign. And now, Aston Villa, too, have emerged as a potential suitor for the striker, who has four caps for the Italian national team.

Aston Villa are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to add quality to their roster ahead of the next season. The Villans have already signed Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos on permanent deals and are closing in on the capture of Rangers defender Calvin Bassey.

However, manager Steven Gerrard is far from done with his shopping for the summer. A new centre-forward is also high on the Aston Villa boss’ wishlist after Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings endured an indifferent 2021/22 campaign. Kean, to that end, has emerged as an option for the club, although given his recent track record, he would hardly represent an upgrade on Villa’s current options.

Nonetheless, the report claims that the Midlands side are keen on signing the Italian striker and have even offered midfielder Douglas Luiz as part of the deal. The Brazilian international is out of contract next year and is likely to be offloaded, with Gerrard likely to put his faith in Kamara and Marvelous Nakamba in the holding midfield role.

Such an offer might appeal to Juventus, although Kean might not be entirely convinced about the prospect of a return to England after his struggles with Everton. Furthermore, the 22-year-old’s form does not inspire much confidence either, and Aston Villa would be better off looking at other options.
