Tottenham submit €47 million offer for Gabriel Jesus

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly tabled a €47 million bid to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

According to Tutto Juve, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to rival north London rivals Arsenal for the signing of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus. Spurs have even submitted a €47 million bid for the Brazilian’s services.

Jesus is one of the most-wanted forwards in European football currently. The 25-year-old’s game time at Manchester City has taken a hit in the recent past, and that is set to nosedive further with the impending arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to the Etihad.

Jesus has been deployed at other positions by Pep Guardiola but that approach is not sustainable. The Brazil international has just a year remaining on his current contract with the Cityzens and an exit looks the most likely outcome currently.

Arsenal are said to be heavily interested in the centre-forward. The Gunners are in the market to sign a No. 9 and have made Jesus a priority signing. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the Emirates to join Barcelona after Arsenal terminated his contract in January. Alexandre Lacazette is set to depart as well with his contract expiring.

The Frenchman’s exit would leave Arsenal with just Eddie Nketiah, who is reportedly close to signing a long-term deal with the club. They were believed to be leading the race for Jesus with the player ready to join Arsenal. But Tottenham seem to have made a backdoor entry in the transfer saga.

Tottenham are eager to close down the deal as soon as possible and have reportedly lodged a substantial offer of €47 million to sign Jesus from Manchester City. It could spring Arsenal into action as well. However, Antonio Conte’s side may have an upper hand in the move as they would offer the 25-year-old Champions League football while at Arsenal, he will have to make do with the Europa League.

Jesus joined Manchester City from Palmeiras in 2017 and has since made 236 appearances for the club, scoring 95 goals. He has four Premier League titles in five years but hasn’t been able to win the elusive Champions League with Guardiola’s side. He started 21 Premier League games for the English champions this past season.

With Tottenham making a swift move to sign Jesus, Arsenal could be left in a lurch and will need to act swiftly if they wish to land the Manchester City striker.
