Exit-bound Manchester United ace Nemanja Matic has reportedly agreed on a €6 million-a-year deal to join Roma as he inches closer to a Jose Mourinho reunion

According to Calciomercato, AS Roma and exit-bound Manchester United star Nemanja Matic have come to an agreement over a contract worth €6 million a year. The Serbian is likely to commit for one season with the option of another year. If the move transpires, the midfielder will be playing under Jose Mourinho for the third time in his career.

There are some players in the game that managers trust very much and take them along wherever they go. Harry Redknapp expressed this love for a particular star as he signed Niko Kranjcar multiple times at many clubs. There are many examples to consider, although this is not something Jose Mourinho has done in a long time.

When the Portuguese signed for Chelsea in 2004, he did bring a few of his trusted players from FC Porto and maintained his trust in Ricardo Carvalho as he signed the defender for Real Madrid. There could be a similar move on the cards, as Mourinho could be on course to bringing a player under his belt for the third time.

Nemanja Matic is all set to be reunited with Mourinho again, as the midfielder will depart Manchester United this summer. While there are Premier League clubs interested in the Serbian, he is likely to move out of England, with Italy looking like his probable destination.

Roma have been eying a move alongside some other sides such as Juventus. However, playing under Mourinho has seemingly enticed Matic towards accepting an opportunity to join the Italian capital club rather than move to Turin or somewhere else.

Mourinho has been coy on links to Matic, although recent reports indicate advanced contacts have been established between the club and the player. The latest update is that Roma have made an offer worth €6 million per year to the midfielder.

The Serbian has reportedly accepted the offer, which is only for one season, although extending it by another year is an option. It is a good contract for the midfielder, who is not in the sharpest stage. While it is a big investment in terms of salary for Roma, they could accommodate the wages freed up by Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s departure.

In any case, Matic has already confirmed his departure from Manchester United in the summer. He signed for the club in a £40 milion move from Chelsea to play under Mourinho after impressing the manager during his second stint with the Blues. The veteran Serb is now set to link up with the ‘Special One’ yet again, this time in Rome.
